The word elge means "progress" in Kannada and "plowed field" in Basque.

At Elge Publishing, our mission is to publish authors whose ideas can contribute to humanity's progress by being—as Simone Weil once wrote— “an intermediary between the uncultivated land and the plowed field, between the data of the problem and the solution, between the blank page and the poem, between the hungry unfortunate and the unfortunate who is satiated.”
